culture...

What is culture?
Does it affect our lives?

I have been confronted by this word a couple of times...
Martin kept on repeating to me "Insult me not my Culture..."
He said this when I made a wrong decision about his art in his account at deviantart.com.
I copied it and made bad comments which somewhat tarnished the artists personality.
I was sorry.
But what is in this word, culture?
I bet its more than just a lesson.
More than Chapter 3 in our textbook in Sociology.
And I bet its more than any words could define.
Words only cage the essence of the object to make it more comprehensible but it sometimes distorts the real meaning of the object.
Remember, no words can ever be a perfect description of anything.
For me, culture is life.
What you are now is a product and a factor of your culture.
Everything you do, every habit you mastered and even your accent is because of your culture.
But for me, culture is unique in each one of us.
We may have social (slash) cultural groups but our own individual cultures are unique.
We dont think the same way as the people in our neighborhood, heck not even in our own family.
We dont understand things the way others can.
We have our own worlds.
It just so happens that other's worlds keep on crashing into ours.
But mind you, no one can ever be totally united with another even in marriage and love making.
So culture is basically who we are.
And I would like to extend my apologies to Martin.

(wala lng gud... drama2x kunuhay ko... hala!!! hait na grey's anatomy... lolz)
